This is about as noncomedic as the comic gets, short of certain filler. There's still some semblance of humor, given the first panel's wordplay and Aspen presenting her creepy catchphrase in a reassuring tone for a change, but the ending isn't much of a punchline. I even considered dropping the last thought bubble for a greater degree of "silence."

My decision was based on occasions that cartoonists I greatly admire have eschewed laughs for tenderness. I don't begrudge them, so why not try it myself? It's not going to be habitual.
