Yes, Kody is religious, but since he's thinking only of an analogy, we mustn't conclude that he takes the Tree of Knowledge story literally. Nor does he necessarily think the fruit was an apple rather than a fig.

Also, I deliberated on whether the alarm should still be sounding and, if so, whether Kody would stand close enough that it's worth indicating. I think enough time has elapsed, but responsible people aren't reentering the building until a firefighter gives them the go-ahead. If others are already crowding the entrance, it would explain why nobody else is in the panel with Kody.
